Meet “Instrument Wizard” – Musician Mai Dinh Toi
One of the highlights of Culture Touch is Mai Dinh Toi’s live performance, widely known as “Vietnam’s Instrument Genius.” He was born in Thanh Hoa Province in 1959 and is a nationally recognized folk artist who graduated from the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
He has made hundreds of one-of-a-kind instruments out of everyday materials such as plastic bottles, water pipes, bowls, and even leaves, motivated by his desire to innovate. His amazing performances, which include playing drums with his feet, flutes with his nose, and using neon bulbs as instruments, have earned him both Vietnamese and World Guinness Records. His performance is more than just entertainment; it tells a story of ingenuity, resilience, and the limitless imagination of Vietnamese culture.
